Viton® Fluorocarbon Rubber for Custom Rubber Parts
Viton® is a fluoroelastomer synthetic rubber that features outstanding chemical resistance, heat resistance, and durability. This high-performance material is often used in industries that demand superior performance and reliability in environments where conventional elastomers fall short.
At REDCO, we specialize in Viton Rubber Molding, manufacturing gaskets, bumpers, and other custom components. All development, testing, and production performed in-house at our Carson City, NV facility.
Properties of Viton Fluorocarbon Rubber
- Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to oils, fuels, lubricants, and most mineral acids
- High Temperature Resistance: Retains performance in temperatures up to 410°F (continuous exposure)
- Environmental Resistance: Retains sealing capabilities even with ozone, UV, oxidation, fungus, and mold exposure
- Tear Resistance: 20 kg/cm
- Practical Shore A Hardness Range: 55–90, or between 70-80 for O-rings
- Tensile Strength: 7 MPA
- Low Compression Set
Limitations of Viton Rubber
- Loses flexibility at temperatures below -15°F
- Limited resistance to ketones, amines, esters, nitrohydrocarbons, and hot hydrofluoric or chlorosulfonic acids
- Carries a higher cost compared to Nitrile or EPDM
Industrial Applications for Viton Rubber
Industrial sectors rely on Viton's high-performance characteristics for numerous critical components, including:
- O-rings and seals
- Gaskets for chemical processing equipment and fuel systems
- Valve stem seals
- Pump housings
- Aerospace and automotive components
